Princess Auto vs. HomeSense.
I hate Princess Auto. James loves Princess Auto. I can honestly say that I dont think there is a more boring store than Princess Auto. James would disagree. He would say Homsense. I love HomeSense. How someone can find HomeSense boring is beyond my imagination.HomeSense
I could spend hours in HomeSense, heck, I could spend hours in just the picture frame section of HomeSense. I especially love HomeSense at Christmas time with all the decorations - shiney, twinkling, and bright decorations. They have such great deals - 60-80% below retail price (according to their slogan)!! The throw pillow department is 4 isles long and don't even get me started on the furniture department. I can always find a piece of furniture that I long to take home with me. I usually drag James in there to look at mirrior or a rug that I want to purchase but need his "final approval". He complains the whole time but I have learned to ignore him... usually leaving him sitting on a chair in the previously mentioned furniture section.
Princess Auto
Princess Auto on the other hand is full of boring objects. James said if he could spend 8 hours in one store it would be P.A. What the heck could he do there for 8 hours!? I can barely last 8 minutes or even 8 seconds. The past 2 times we have gone to the store I have choosen to stay in the car - leave me here, don't be long! He usually comes out after 25 minutes with special treasures that he talks about the whole way home while I pretend to listen and dream of the new things being unpacked across the street at HomeSense. I watch the people going into the store - Grease Heads I call them - but James says it's just people who love to "work with their hands". Guess I am not one of those people. The place has everything from livestock equipment to snowmobiling... it's a mish-mash of weird odds and ends that only a man could make sense out of.
Maybe I will get him a gift certificate to Princess Auto for Christmas with a piece of paper granting him 8 hours free to waltz around the shop... OH! the treasure he would find! OH... the treasures I would have to "pretend" to be interested in when he returned. There is no comparison between Princess Auto and HomeSense... HomeSense wins hands down :)

haha...Oh Melissa, you should not be selling real estate or whateverekse oyu are doing now, you should be writing! You leave me laughing!!
I will defend Princess Auto - and hope you find it in your power to include your time with your Christmas gift certificate idea.
As a husband who manages to not be the guy sitting in the furniture section I support my beautiful wife and at least attempt to be interested in HomeSense and similar stores. Instead of always dreading and complaining this brings a positive attitude.
I think you should give at least 30 mins with him in the store - challenge yourself to find something you could use and then buy it with excitement! After your agonizing 30 minutes are over, give him an extra 30 minutes - take the car and get a Starbucks for both of you before you pick him up.
Even if you don't get what in the world makes a $0.99 bungee cord or a $2 LED flashlight so amazing at least you tried.
Ask the same of your husband and challenge him to find something in your store. The bliss of your marriage can only grow.
WOW - Dave Oomathes, you must be a marriage counselor with the wisdom you just provided!
Next time we drive past the store instead of turning my head towards the window in fear of drawing attention to the store (in fear that we may have to stop) I will ask him if there is anything that he needs from P.A.... the look of surprise on his face will be priceless!!
Melissa, as another wife whose husband LOVES Princess Auto (he is missing it a lot and figures Dallas needs a Princess Auto store here), my advice to you is shop in the stainless steel aisle. Occasionally there will be a nice stainless steel item you can use in your kitchen. Ice bucket, mug, bowl. .... It will at least use up about 8 minutes of your 30 minutes in the store.
